Ages of War - Arts & Sciences Competition

Being the third Ages of War, this is a three part competition. All entries will be sorted as either an item from 1494 to 1559 OR as an item from outside of that time frame or from a country not involved in the Great Italian Wars.   All entries will be judged by our Kingdoms’ Order of the Chivalry as to their warlike nature.   Questions, comments or volunteering to be a judge can be sent to Sorcha at jonya@jonya.com.

Part One:   The Italian Wars took place from 1494 to 1559 and most of the Western Europe was involved at some point. One part of this competition will encompass arts, crafts and sciences from this era and from these countries. Wikipedia lists them as " France, Spain, the Holy Roman Empire, England, Scotland, the Republic of Venice, the Papal States, and most of the city-states of Italy as well as the Ottoman Empire." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Warsfor more information. Have fun with this – your entry can be anything from these countries and years.   Documentation will be required. This information will be available by May 1. Laurels who study this time period are still needed to do the judging.

Part Two:   The Italian Wars are only a small part of the times we study. By choosing to follow the event's theme, I realize I'm neglecting my own time, 1050's of western Ireland, and many of the rest of us. So, for people enthralled with their studies of their own persona's time and place, or not interested in picking up new A&S projects, and for the edification of all, the second part of our competition will be for all other types of work. It is a bean count.   Documentation can be at your own level of enthusiasm and as much as you want to provide. Just as, let’s be honest, people looking at the displays may or may not be interested in reading your documentation.

Part Three:   The Italian Wars are only one of the many wars we study. The overall theme is war – so…the third part is to be warlike items. Any member of the Order of the Chivalry in attendance at Ages of War will be given a marker to vote on the most warlike item that is entered. The knights and masters in attendance can vote for any item entered. Gentles entering either the first or second parts of this competition are automatically entered into this third part as well.
